This past week has been a quiet one for Mr. Market. The biggest move came Thursday. The market reached an all time high. Friday had a small pull back.
On Friday the unemployment rate declined to 4.2 percent in September; total nonfarm payroll employment changed little (-33,000). A sharp employment decline in food services and drinking places and below-trend growth in some other industries likely reflected the impact of Hurricanes Irma and Harvey.
October kicks off the historically bullish 4th quarter, but October is also known for being a volatile month. The potential for some movement this month: an election in Japan, earnings season kicks off in the U.S. October is a big month and one that could provide a lot of excitement.
